History
Chris Haltom Floors started in 1978 when the founder, Chris Haltom, was manufacturing 5/16 top nail flooring at an old sawmill in Scotts Valley. He repaired an abandoned re-saw machine used as far back as 1910 to cut local redwood logs into lumber.
Chris recruited expert help from the old timers at Big Creek Lumber to enable the machines again. They also helped to sharpen the massive 12 foot blades. These men had worked the mill for Bud McCary's operation as far back as the 1940's.
By 1980, Chris decided to leave manufacturing and begin anew as a sanding and finish contractor. After 30 years in the wood flooring industry, the sheer numbers of jobs complete is quite impressive!
